WBAL reports that Maryland is one of 37 states that saw its unemployment rate fall in May. According to the U.S. Department of Labor the jobless rate fell 3-tenths of a percent to 7.2-percent. Officials say the state added 11,200 jobs, but only 4,800 were in the private sector. The rest of those jobs were government jobs, mostly those of temporary U.S. Census workers. The Labor Department says the unemployment rate fell in 37 states. Christian Johansson, Maryland’s Secretary of Business and Economic Development, said that relatively speaking Maryland did extremely well in creating jobs in the private sector...
