Public utility crews in Baltimore County are scheduled to turn off water service to several hundred residences in Chase on July 25. A Baltimore County Department of Public Works statement released Thursday indicated that crews are scheduled to replace an old 4-inch water line with a new 6-inch line serving Chase Elementary School on Eastern Avenue. County engineers said the new water line will improve water pressure and upgrade fire protection at the school. The shutoff is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on July 25 with water service restoration scheduled by 5 a.m. -- a seven-hour period when water demand is lowest. The temporary shutoff is anticipated to affect communities along Eastern Avenue north of Chase Elementary, and will also include Strawberry Fields, Cunninghill Cove, Harewood Park and Chase Manor. When water is restored, engineers advise residents to run their taps for a few minutes to eliminate air in the system and to flush any discoloration or sediment.
